– Create a Kwanzaa KWL chart
– Define new vocabulary terms using color vocabulary posters
– Retell story
– Determine story’s central lesson or message
– Analyze character traits based on evidence from the text
– Summarize key Kwanzaa terms, symbols and traditions
– Read and follow directions to make a mkeka (straw mat)
– Make vibunzi (corn) and mazao (bowl of fruits and veggies), two key components of Kwanzaa
